We attended an Inauguration celebration this weekend - a 'Black and White Affair.' It was a fun night, held at a Polynesian supper club in our area (comedians come through on tour year-round, that's its biggest claim to fame).
The event's planners had gone all out with the Obama paraphernalia -- including big cut-outs, wall hangings, Obama mints (!), and a particularly cool Airbrush Obama that people started posing in front of. Guests wore some amazing, colorless outfits, too. I wish I could have gotten more photos of the white zoot suits and black evening gowns, but I only brought my small camera, and didn't look official enough. People would have thought I was being creepy, I'm sure.
A number of Massachusetts politicians were on hand to offer a few words of wisdom, but even they wanted to celebrate, and the remarks were kept to a minimum. Then it was on to the entertainment - Comedian Tommy McMillan, the motown group In Time, R&B singer Monty Montgomery, and the Prime Time Players, a high-energy touring band that plays a lot of funk.
The mini-vid is below - check out the festivities in two minutes or less. The soundtrack is Woo Hoo by the 5678s.
