But, here I am at the Hotel de la Cite, thanks to all who sent me good travel juju! The flight from Paris to Lyon was a bit hairy but I made it. The hotel is very modern, and situated on a long, riverside quay called La Cite Internationale, which is full of shops, casinos, movie theaters, and restaurants. There are huge statues at every block, ranging from men on cell phones to giant silver penguins (the Museum of Contemporary Art is one building over from me).
The weather has been damp and rainy, but after my jetlag nap, it cleared long enouh for me to walk the quay and a portion of a nearby park, which I'll probably revisit tomorrow. Overall, people are friendly, the scenery is great, and my French sucks.
Tomorrow I'm off to tour the Fourviere Basilica, so I'll try to pop in again, and to upload some more photos. The connection has been too spotty to get more than the above image up online, but it gives you an idea of the long cityscape I'm in.
A bientot!
