The other night, ArcherVision and I opened the refrigerator door and, with a long weekend away ahead of us, found only a box of turkey burgers and an array of condiments left to eat.
So, we did what any normal people would do, and decided to have a turkey-burger-cook-off.
We pulled every sauce, spread, and marinade we had out of the fridge and laid them out on the counter, along with the two lettuce leaves, half of a yellow pepper, wilty scallions, and precariously soft tomato we found in the crisper, and a few bread choices. Then, jockeying for position over the stove, we each cooked our patties and set to work creating Culinary Feats of Wonder. The rules weren't laid out terribly clearly - there was some debate over whether or not two, individual burgers on one plate could count as one entry, for instance. But with only two people to enter, judge, and witness the whole spectacle, splitting hairs seemed like a waste of valuable garnish-preparation time.
Mise en Place:

Plating:

ArcherVision uses the 'crab technique' to garnish the plate
Presentation:

'The ArcherVision Two-patty, Multi-cheese Extravaganza Burger Plate': Two turkey burgers with cheddar or mozzarella, red peppers, lettuce and tomato
'The Refresher' : turkey burger with sour cream, whole wheat wraps, tomato, scallions, and shredded cheese
My completely inobjective assessment of the competition is this: ArcherVision gets points for forming the cous cous with a measuring cup. I get props for taking the healthy route, as well as the more realistic one.
From there, everyone else can really only vote by appearance ... but go ahead, have at it!
I'm really sorry about this, Jac, but I have to go with the artery clogger
(the Archer Deluxe?), solely because of the multi-cheese factor. But I'm
not the healthiest eater, so maybe I'm not the best judge.
You had me at sour cream. Which totally breaks the rules because it's not a
vote based on appearance. I'm sorry, but one cannot vote against the
supremcy of sour cream. Yours does appear to be perfectly self-contained as
well, thus less messy to eat, thus allowing you to enjoy each bit of the
sour cream. And we're back to the sour cream again.
Dawn, a-MEN! and it was low fat sour cream. Which isn't as good as full-fat
of course, but still tasty ;)
Now all I have going through my head is 'sour cream.' I have to stop
reading blogs at work.
